Query Accident/Incident Trends
The following queries display trends over a four year period. The year selected and the prior three years are used for this. Data for the last year is limited to the current available data, or through the month requested.
For example, if the last month of available data for 2002 is April, then all the data for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001 will be retrieved. Complete year counts are shown for these three years.
Additional counts for 2001 and 2002 will be displayed through the month of April. A percentage change is shown for the periods from 1999 through 2001, 2000 through 2001, and through April for 2001 through 2002.
Various output reports are created that summarize the data into different categories based on your selections. Within each category, e.g., train accident causes, the data is displayed in descending sequence based on the frequency of occurrence (high to low).
Certain queries allow for selection of a FRA region. FRA regions are generally based on state boundaries. However, some states are geographically split between more than one region. When a FRA region is selected, reports displaying states will show only those incidents that occurred in the portion of the state assigned to the FRA region selected. Total counts for a state are obtained by selecting that state.
